History of LIS Technology: A Prezi
This is a Prezi I created showing the history of library and information science technologies. Take a look at all the events that led libraries to where they are today. Enjoy!
I really enjoyed your chronology. Just wondering, but what led you to choose the introduction of the Compaq over similar systems like the Commodore or the Texas Instruments TI-99? I went with the Introduction of Apple in the late 70s myself, but that had more to do with my personal experience with Apple IIe's in my dad's library around 1983.
My choice of the Compaq has to do with my personal experiences, too. I vaguely recall seeing one of them sitting in a dusty corner in my house at some point during my childhood. And, I'm more of a PC person today, so that may have had something to do with it.
Thanks, Michelle! Once you get the hang of it, Prezi is pretty straightforward. There are a few problems that it has that still make PowerPoint come out on top, though. For instance, Prezi doesn't allow text to be bold or italicized, which was a problem when I went to add my references. I ended up having to save them as a PDF then upload them that way.
Also, some people I've spoken with have experienced motion sickness from watching Prezis, so you have to be careful about how much you zoom in and how fast you set the slides to advance. I know it's kind of an odd thing to consider when doing a presentation, but I guess it's all a part of working out the kinks while using new technologies.
Haha! Yeah, I thought about using it for our PPT/YouTube assignment, but I decided to go with Google Docs instead because I didn't really have a good, big image to use. It seems like this works really well for something like a timeline, though, where you're on a "journey."

DeleteVery cool! I've never used Prezi before; it seems like a really cool presentation tool. Is it difficult to learn?

DeleteThis is really creative! I enjoy Prezi more than Powerpoint, even with it's limitations. It is just more interesting and dynamic!

Great job! I also did a Prezi for my chronology assignment. I've been using it for a while now and really enjoy it.
